Moisture in Custom Built Headlights

1 min read

If you are experiencing issues with moisture build up in your Custom Headlights, please follow these steps to effectively remove moisture.

Step 1: Access the Headlights

Open the bonnet of your vehicle and locate the headlight that's experiencing moisture buildup. Ensure there is enough room behind the headlight.

Step 2: Checking over your headlights

Without removing your headlights ensure all pieces of the headlight are intact to see if there is a visible issue causing moisture build up. Here are some things you can check.
  • Park light globe holder and indicator globe holder are securely clipped in.
  • The rubber boot hasn't moved, been damaged or peeled back.
  • See if the breather(s) have come off or if they are missing.
Fix any noticeable issues.

Step 3: Preparing your Headlights

If you have an enclosed headlight remove your park light holder to create a exit for trapped moisture to escape.
For Custom 7” Headlights loosen the worm clamp & slide the rubber boot off just a fraction.

Step 4: Removing the Moisture

Now that you have created a place for the moisture to escape you will need to create heat in the headlight. The easiest way to do this is by starting your car and leaving the headlights on high beam (as this generates the most heat). Leave your headlights on until the moisture is gone. This will usually take about 10 - 20 minutes.
