RGB Headlights (Halo, Firewheel etc) - Troubleshooting

2 min read

If you are experiencing issues with your RGB headlights, follow this guide to diagnose and resolve common problems. Since these headlights use the same app as our RGB Whip Lights, some troubleshooting steps will be the same.

1. LEDs not displaying correctly or only partially lighting up

Possible Cause: Incorrect parameter settings or a damaged LED.
✅ Solution:

  • If the issue started after replacing a controller, the parameters may need adjusting. Follow our Parameter Adjustment Guide to correct this.
  • Check for damaged LEDs in the headlight. If an LED is faulty, the entire strip may not function properly.

2. One Headlight is working, but the other isn’t

Possible Cause: Connection issue, faulty controller, or a defective headlight.
✅ Solution:

  • Check all wiring connections to ensure everything is properly secured.
  • Swap the working headlight to the other side to determine whether the issue is with the headlight itself or the wiring/controller.
    • If the issue follows the headlight, the headlight is faulty.
    • If the issue stays on the same side, the wiring, adapter, or Canbus module may be the problem.

3. Low or High Beam Not Working

Possible Cause: Lack of power from the vehicle’s electrical system or improper connection.
✅ Solution:

  • Check for power from your vehicle's supply to ensure it's delivering electricity to the headlights.
  • If no power is detected, inspect the factory headlight fuses and replace them if necessary.
  • Ensure that the EMC Canbus modules are installed and connected correctly.

4. App Troubleshooting for RGB Headlights

If your headlights are not responding in the app, follow these steps:

  • Ensure Power Supply is Connected: Check that the controller is properly powered.
  • Reconnect the Power Source: Disconnect power (pull out the fuse) for 30 seconds, then reconnect.
  • Ensure Bluetooth Is Enabled: Make sure Bluetooth is turned on and Airplane Mode is OFF.
  • Restart the App & Device: Close the app, restart your phone, and try again.
  • Check if the Device is Already Connected to Another Phone: The controller can only connect to one device at a time. If it's already paired to another phone, disconnect it and retry.
  • Reset the Connection: Forget the device from your Bluetooth settings and try reconnecting it through the app.
  • Try a Different Device: Install the app on another phone or tablet to test if the issue is specific to your device.

For additional app-related troubleshooting, refer to our App Troubleshooting Guide.

5. Low Beam is Shining at an Odd Angle

Possible Cause: Improper headlight adjustment or a faulty headlight.
✅ Solution:

  • Adjust the headlight alignment to ensure proper beam projection.
  • If only one headlight is affected, the unit itself may be faulty.
