Bushdoof App Privacy

This page covers the Bushdoof lighting app for iPhone and Android. Our storefront privacy policy covers orders and the website, and you can read it here.
The short version
The app collects nothing about you. There is no account, no sign-up and no email address. We do not know who you are, we do not know you have installed it, and nothing you do in it is sent to us or to anyone else.
What the app stores, and where
So it can reconnect to your lights without asking again, the app keeps a short list on your phone:
- Which controllers you have paired, and the Bluetooth ID your phone uses to find each one
- Which product each controller runs, so it shows the right picture
- Any name you have given a controller, such as "front whip"
- The last colour and brightness you set
All of that lives in the app's own storage on your device. It is not uploaded, backed up to us, or shared. Delete the app and it goes with it. There is no Bushdoof server involved at any point.
Why the app asks for Bluetooth
Bluetooth is how the app talks to your lighting controllers. It is used only to find your controllers and send colour, brightness and mode commands to them. The app does not read other Bluetooth devices around you, and it does not log or transmit anything it sees while scanning.
Commands travel directly from your phone to the controller on the vehicle. They never pass through the internet.
Why Android also asks for location
On Android, Google requires an app to hold location permission before it is allowed to scan for Bluetooth Low Energy devices at all. That is a rule of the Android platform, not something Bushdoof needs. The app never reads your location, never stores it and never sends it anywhere. iPhone does not have this requirement, so the app does not ask for location on iOS.
The Shop tab
The Shop tab opens the real bushdoof.co store inside the app. While you are browsing or checking out there, our website's normal privacy policy and cookies apply, exactly as they would in your phone's browser. The app itself does not read anything out of those pages, including anything you type.
Analytics, advertising and tracking
There are none. The app contains no analytics tools, no crash reporting, no advertising software and no tracking of any kind. Nothing about you is shared with any other company, and nothing in the app is used to target advertising.
Children
The app is a tool for controlling vehicle lighting and is suitable for all ages. Because it collects no personal information from anyone, it collects none from children.
Your rights
We hold no data about your use of the app, so there is nothing for us to show you, correct or delete. To remove everything the app has stored, delete the app from your phone. If you would like your paired-controller list cleared without uninstalling, you can remove each controller from within the app.
Changes to this page
If a future version of the app changes how it handles information, this page is updated before that version is released, and the date at the top changes with it.
